The NDIS Google Business Profile Checklist Perth Providers Are Missing

Your Google Business Profile is often the first thing participants, families, and support coordinators see when they search for your services. It appears before your website in local searches, shows your contact details, and builds trust through your business information.

Most Perth NDIS providers have a profile — but most have left at least half of it incomplete. Here are the 10 items that make the biggest difference to your local search visibility.

1. Primary business category is set correctly

The most relevant options for NDIS providers: Disability Services and Support Organisation, Assisted Living Facility, or Group Home. Choose the one that most accurately describes your primary service.

2. Secondary categories are added

Add 2 to 3 secondary categories that describe your other services. For a SIL provider also offering Support Coordination, add both categories.

3. Service areas list every suburb you operate in

Not just "Perth Metro" — list individual suburbs. Balga, Joondalup, Rockingham, Mandurah. Every suburb you don't list is a search you won't appear in.

4. Business description includes keywords and location

Your description should naturally include your service type, suburb names, and who you assist. Keep it AHPRA-compliant — factual and descriptive, no comparative claims.

5. Services list is complete

Google Business Profile has a dedicated Services section. Add each service you offer with a brief description. This feeds directly into how Google categorises your profile for different searches.

6. Photos are uploaded and up to date

Profiles with photos get significantly more views than those without. Add exterior photos of your homes, interior common areas (no participants without consent), and your team if appropriate.

7. Business hours are accurate and complete

If you have office hours, list them. If you have on-call support, mention it in your description. Incomplete or wrong hours reduce trust and can cause Google to lower your local ranking.

8. Website link points to the right page

Most NDIS providers link to their homepage. Consider linking to your most relevant page — your vacancies page for SIL providers, or your services page for Support Coordinators.

9. Q&A section has been populated

Google Business Profile has a Q&A section that anyone can add questions to. Add your own frequently asked questions proactively — referral process, availability, NDIS registration status — before visitors ask them.

10. Posts are published at least monthly

Google Business Profile posts keep your listing active. A monthly update about vacancies, a link to a new blog post, or a note about your services signals to Google that your profile is current and being actively managed.

How to access your profile: Go to Google.com and search for your business name. Your Business Profile panel should appear on the right. Click "Edit profile" to update any of the items above. If you haven't claimed your profile yet, visit business.google.com to do so.

How long before you see results?

Category changes and service area updates typically start affecting your local search visibility within 2 to 4 weeks. Photos and posts have a more immediate effect on profile engagement. The combined impact of completing all 10 items is usually visible within 4 to 6 weeks as Google re-evaluates your profile's relevance and completeness.
